                                         Power relocation

A high voltage transformer failure was experienced by one of our clients.

After further investigation we found that during peak production, their main transformer was being overloaded. The factory's maximum demand was peaking at higher levels than the transformer's current rating.

These over current periods can gradually breakdown conductor insulation and result in a major failure.

BDM Electrical checked the maximum demand of a second transformer on site. We decided to relocate the power and ran cabling for two chillers to a second transformer, which was approximately 100 meters away.

We relocated 800 Amps of three phase current and installed a cable tray to support approximately 1600 meters of XLPE cable.

This shift enabled the main switchboard to function at a safe level, eliminating any future failures and allowed room for factory expansion.
